Come celebrate the beginning of summer at the University of Iowa Museum of Art’s First Friday event. For $5, enjoy music, drinks, and hors d’oeuvres with fellow art lovers at The Mansion, 538 South Gilbert Street, Iowa City, from 5-7 p.m. on June 1.

Participants may also choose to further their evening’s entertainment in downtown Iowa City, where the Iowa Arts Festival and the Downtown Iowa City Gallery Walk are being held. The Arts Fest runs June 1-3, and the Gallery Walk is a self-guided tour Friday night only.

UIMA First Fridays provide an ideal chance to usher in your weekend and mingle with other art enthusiasts for a great cause. The Mansion is sponsoring this month’s reception.

Participants in First Friday can also choose to become full members of the UIMA. Benefits include home delivery of the UIMAmagazine and a donor card that allows for free admission to the Figge Art Museum in Davenport—which currently houses the UIMA’s collection—as well as more than 20 other art museums.
