Become part of Iowa City’s most spot-tacular community art installation.

Sponsored by the University of Iowa Museum of Art, "Just Do(t) Art" is a monthlong, community-based collaborative art installation, which will be open for public participation April 6-May 4, at hotelVetro in downtown Iowa City. This family-friendly activity encourages art lovers of all ages to place colorful translucent stickers on several of the expansive glass windows in the hotelVetro lobby.

Dots will be available in the hotelVetro lobby free of charge for the monthlong duration of the project. With more than 50,000 circular stickers available, this project will turn the hotelVetro windows into one part mosaic, one part stained-glass, and one part abstract expressionist masterpiece.

The Just Do(t) Art launch party will take place at the one-year anniversary of the UIMA's monthly First Friday event series, from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, April 6, in the hotelVetro lobby. The ceremonial first dot will be placed at 5:30 p.m. For a $5 admission fee, those attending First Friday can indulge in light hors d'oeuvres and drink specials at the Formosa bar, while watching the masterpiece come to life.

Return to the hotelVetro lobby for the May First Friday (May 4) to celebrate the end of the Just Do(t) Art project. Watch the last dot be placed, and enjoy the installation in its final form.

"Just Do(t) Art" is also sponsored by Shive-Hattery Architecture + Engineering.
