UI Chamber Orchestra and All-University String Orchestra are featured

The University of Iowa Chamber Orchestra and the All-University String Orchestra will share a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the Riverside Recital Hall.

The Chamber Orchestra, conducted by graduate students Chun-Ming Chen, Hyeyoun Jang, Kira Horel, and Michael Wright, will perform the Coriolanus Overture, Op. 62, by Beethoven; I gioielli della Madonna (The Jewels of the Madonna): Intermezzo No. 2, by Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari; Cavalleria rusticana: Intermezzo by Pietro Mascagni; Salut d’amore, op. 12 (Love’s Greeting), by Edward Elgar; and the Symphony no. 4, op. 90, A major (Italian), by Felix Mendelssohn.

Under the direction of Chun-Ming Chen, Hyeyoun Jang, and Michael Wright, the All-University String Orchestra—which enables students from a variety of academic disciplines to continue to play their instruments while studying at the UI—will perform the Divertimento no. 3 in F major, K138, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; Five Pieces for String Orchestra, op. 44, no. 4, by Paul Hindemith; and the Capriol Suite by Peter Warlock.
