Monday, April 23, 2012

The University of Iowa School of Music will present its third free Improvisation for Classical Musicians event of the semester at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, in the Riverside Recital Hall.

Faculty member Jeffrey Agrell explains, “Part of this last improv concert will feature an improvised ‘opera,’ where different instruments are assigned character types and the piano is the orchestra. Players will be assigned, in the moment, to arias, duets, trios, and ensemble numbers with titles suggested by the audience.”

The event is free and the public is invited to attend. For more information or special accommodations to attend, contact the school at 319-335-1603. The School of Music is a unit of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
