The University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) will host the 2012 CLAS Faculty Honors Celebration at 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 16, in the IMU Second Floor Ballroom.

The college will recognize the accomplishments of more than 60 faculty members who garnered major college and university awards, as well as significant national and international distinctions, over the previous academic year. This celebration was inaugurated in Linda Maxson's first year as dean to recognize the college's excellent faculty and their many achievements.

This year—Dean Maxson's final Faculty Honors Celebration—the event will begin with an academic procession of faculty newly appointed to named honors and of the new CLAS Collegiate Fellows, an award Dean Maxson inaugurated 10 years ago to honor senior faculty members for their records of sustained distinction.

A reception following the awards ceremony will give everyone attending the opportunity to congratulate their colleagues on the honors they have received. The event is free and open to the public.
