For 33 years, Dancers in Company has afforded University of Iowa dance students the opportunity to experience what it’s like to be part of a professional touring company. In the process, the student-performers get to share their art with audiences in towns across the state through performances, workshops, and demonstrations.

Celebrated organist Kevin Bowyer will perform Sorabji’s monumental Second Organ Symphony for the inauguration of the University of Iowa’s new Klais organ beginning at noon on Feb 10. The performance will last about eight-and-a-half hours—but you can catch the finale if you arrive at 8 p.m.

It’s another year to remember for the University of Iowa Dance Marathon community. Dance Marathon 23 raised $2,572,130.23 to help fund pediatric cancer research at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.

The Cubs Trophy Tour, presented by State Farm, is coming to the University of Iowa, giving fans the opportunity to see and take photos with the 2016 World Series Trophy. The trophy will be at the Iowa Memorial Union’s Second Floor Ballroom from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30.

Gregory Carmichael, Karl Kammermeyer Professor of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at the University of Iowa, will deliver the 34th annual UI Presidential Lecture “What Goes Around, Comes Around: The Global Reach of Air Pollution” on Sunday, Feb. 19. “Iowa Now” recently sat down with Carmichael to talk about his work.

The university will celebrate the life of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. with a Day of Service on Jan. 16 as well as a number of other events, including a lecture by writer and digital strategist Luvvie Ajayi, film screenings, symposiums, and more.
