The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History continues its fall series “Storytime Adventures” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16. This month’s featured animal is the flamingo. The event is free and open to the public and features stories and hands-on activities that are geared toward elementary-aged children and their families.

This fall, Kinnick Stadium will be little greener thanks to a new game day recycling effort, starting with the Iowa vs. Iowa State game on Saturday, Sept. 8. The game day recycling program is part of the UI’s 2020 Vision sustainability goal.

James Miller, the associate principal trombonist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, will present a free recital as a guest of the University of Iowa School of Music at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, in the University Capitol Centre Recital Hall.

UI School of Music faculty member Kristin Thelander will play a free recital of music for horn by American composers at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in the Riverside Recital Hall. She'll perform with pianist Sue Haug and with the Bon Vivant Horn Quartet.

University of Iowa Recreational Services is sponsoring the annual Steve Goff Memorial Cross-Country 5K Run/Walk Sunday, Sept. 30, to benefit a scholarship fund established in the late professor's name.

The University of Iowa Old Capitol Museum joins the Cedar County Historical Society for a Sept. 15 event marking the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War.

Children will get to don a miner's hat with headlamp to explore the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History when "Night at the Museum" returns Sept. 14. The evening includes tours of darkened galleries and an opportunity to interact with live insects and other arthropods.

Setup and safety for Friday’s campaign visit by President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Jill Biden will affect access to University of Iowa facilities as well as access to roads downtown Thursday-Friday, Sept. 6-7.
