Iowa Flood Center reminds Iowans about Web tool

With the recent heavy rains the Iowa Flood Center (IFC) at the University of Iowa reminds Iowans about an online tool, the Iowa Flood Information System (IFIS), which provides information about community-specific flood conditions including current stream and river levels at nearly 275 U.S. Geological Survey and IFC gauges across the state.

More than 12,000 babies born in the United States since 1963 have been saved from the devastating effects of untreated congenital conditions, thanks to a few drops of blood collected shortly after birth and the pioneering work of Robert Guthrie. In Iowa, the screening is performed by the State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa.
