For decades, mainframe computers powered University of Iowa research and administraive business. With the advent of a new student records system, the last mainframe's work is done—the machine was powered down on April 1, marking the end of a chapter in UI computer history.

College of Public Health building earns LEED Platinum certification

The College of Public Health Building at the University of Iowa has earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification, the highest standard for green design. It is the first academic building on campus to earn the designation.

UI psychiatry professor comments on compulsive shoppers

Researching rural refugees

Cristina Ortiz grew up as part of the lone Latino family in Leon, Iowa. The UI anthropology graduate student now lives in Columbus Junction, Iowa, and is researching the growing Chin Burmese refugee population that lives in this community. She will present her research Friday, April 5 as part of a panel presentation during the Refugees in the Heartland Provost's Global Forum.
