The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free performance by the UI Symphony Orchestra with the combined School of Music choirs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union.

The University of Iowa School of Music will present a jam session by jazz faculty members from 8 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at George’s, 312 E. Market St. in downtown Iowa City. The performance, part of a monthly series, is free and open to the public.

Mary Szybist, alumna of the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, received the 2013 National Book Award for poetry for her most recent collection, "Incarnadine." Szybist accepted the award during a ceremony Nov. 20 in Manhattan, N.Y.
