Outstanding nurses from across the state will be honored for their courage, compassion, and commitment May 5 during the 100 Great Iowa Nurses celebration, created by the Iowa Nurses Association, the Iowa Nurses Foundation, the Iowa Hospital Association, and the UI College of Nursing.

Leesa Fair achieved her 50th birthday goal—to receive a college degree, made possible by UI online learning opportunities, which also allowed her to graduate in December along with her son, Ben, who received a Bachelor of Arts in computer science.

UI rhetoric instructor Matt Gilchrist says he enjoys helping students enhance their writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills in a TILE (Transform, Interact, Learn, and Engage) classroom, and he especially enjoyed the Iowa Narratives Project.

The University of Iowa has unveiled its new diversity website, UI Diversity@Iowa, with enhanced navigation features and a more robust platform for stories, social media, images, and a comprehensive diversity calendar.

University of Iowa College of Nursing Professor Joann "Jo" Eland and 18 students provided a helping hand in India over the winter break as part of a class that provides hospice and palliative care overseas.
