Junior Anthony Ferguson initially came to the University of Iowa in the fall of 2011 to play for the Hawkeye football team. However, after one season, he felt a calling to something greater. He left the team and created a community organization, Young, Black, and Educated. Story

Fort Atkinson, a former fort built to serve as a buffer between warring Native American tribes in northeast Iowa, has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The listing resulted from a petition by the Office of the State Archaeologist at the University of Iowa. Story
