Valerie Payré

Assistant professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Biography

Payré's primary research interest is understanding the evolution of planetary bodies, including Mars, to unravel the geological history of our own planet that is not fully understood. Her work crosses several disciplines in geology including petrology and geochemistry to assess the surface and interior evolution of planetary bodies. Because we cannot go to other planets yet, a breadth of techniques needs to be exploited to back out their geological history. She thus combines remote sensing, experiments, lab measurements, modeling, and measurements from various instruments onboard the Martian rovers to explore planetary processes.
