Biography

Knockel is a clinical assistant professor at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. The majority of her teaching is in the foundations of pharmacy practice and applications of pharmacy practice course series. She received her PharmD from Iowa and completed a PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Practice Residency with the UI College of Pharmacy and Hy-Vee Pharmacy in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Knockel is board certified in ambulatory care. Her professional interests include immunizations, self-care, medication therapy management, and advancing community pharmacy practice. She is an active member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, American Pharmacists Association, and the Iowa Pharmacy Association, where she completed a two-year term on the Board of Trustees.

Knockel's research focuses on the scholarship of teaching and learning and innovative teaching methods. She is also interested in immunizations, self care, medication therapy management, and advancing community pharmacy practice.

Knockel is an ambulatory care clinical pharmacist with the UI Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Before joining the faculty, she practiced at Hy-Vee Pharmacy in Iowa City for 10 years, where she helped implement an AADE-accredited diabetes self-management education program.
