Anita Jung, a professor in the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History, has received a grant to investigate the use of natural dyes in art.

Through the Art Project Grant from the Iowa Arts Council, Jung, a professor of printmaking, will create works using natural dyes, acrylics, and watercolors, and will conduct workshops for K-12 art teachers about processes for painting and printing natural dyes.

Art Project Grants support the creation or presentation of original works of art, arts experience, or arts learning in Iowa.

The 11-month grant is for $10,000.

Jung also received a $3,000, eight-month grant from the International Fine Print Dealers Association Foundation to collaborate with Adrian Carmenate, an undergraduate majoring in cinema, in the editing of video interviews with contemporary printmakers in India.

Jung conducted the interviews during a six-month Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship in 2022. The videos will contextualize the Waswo Collection of Indian Printmaking housed at the Stanley Museum of Art and accompany the Waswo Collection’s exhibition debut during the fall semester in 2026.
