WHAT: Construction workers at the new Hancher site will be treated to a special concert over lunch.

WHERE: Site of the new Hancher facility off Park Road in Iowa City.

WHEN: 12-1 p.m. Wednesday, May 21

WHO: Artists Wycliffe Gordon and Tomas Kubinek—along with Orchestra Iowa’s Maestro Tim Hankewich and Hancher’s executive director Chuck Swanson—will enjoy a picnic lunch with construction workers. Kubinek, Gordon, and Hankewich are collaborating to create a performance that will be part of the new facility’s opening season in the fall of 2016. As part of the lunch, Gordon, a renowned jazz trombonist and Hancher favorite, will perform for the workers.

Gordon, Kubinek, Hankewich, and Swanson will all be available to the media.
