Tuesday, February 25, 2014

University of Iowa President Sally Mason will lead a listening session on the issue of sexual misconduct for students and other members of the campus community from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Iowa Memorial Union.

The session will take place in the IMU Second Floor Ballroom.

Mason will provide brief remarks before taking questions and comments from attendees. Campus representatives from the UI Office for the Sexual Misconduct Response Coordinator, the Office of the Dean of Students, and the Department of Public Safety and other offices will be on hand as well to answer questions.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation to attend the listening session, contact the Office of Vice President for Student Life in advance at 319-335-3557.

Note to media: The listening session is intended first and foremost for the campus community, especially students who have expressed a desire to engage community leaders in a meaningful conversation about how the university is addressing sexual misconduct. Media representatives are welcome to attend so long as their presence doesn't detract from the intended purpose of this meeting. The question-and-comment period will be reserved for campus participants. However, presenters will be available for interviews immediately after the event.
