The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free performance by organist Christoph Keggenhoff at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in Riverside Recital Hall on the UI campus.

Keggenhoff will perform music of Bach, Buxtehude, Eben, and Merkel on the Taylor and Boody op. 13 organ, which is built in the style of organs known to Bach.

Keggenhoff was born in Mainz, Germany, in 1957. He studied Catholic Church Music at the Johannes-Gutenberg University in his native city. He graduated with the A-Exam, the highest degree awarded a church musician in Germany. Keggenhoff made additional studies at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Mannheim where he earned his concert diploma in organ. He has also participated in numerous master classes.

Keggenhoff has played concerts throughout Germany, as well as in Belgium, England, France, Croatia, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the United States, where has made six concert tours since 1999. Keggenhoff has released eight CDs as organist and conductor on the Organum Classics label. In addition to his work as an organist, Keggenhoff is a published author on organ-related topics.

The School of Music is part of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
