Jane Gilmor, graduate of the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History, will sign copies of the new catalog of her work, I'll Be Back for the Cat, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 27, in the Times Club Café in Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City.

Written by art historian and critic Joy Sperling, the book includes essays by Lesley Wright and Matt Freedman. Gilmor will be in the Prairie Lights Café with her hunting blind and other art paraphernalia for an informal “performative” book signing. A special edition of her book, which incorporates original metal relief artwork, will also be available.

Gilmor has exhibited her work internationally for 38 years. In 2011 she was one of five artists selected by national nomination to receive the prestigious Tanne Foundation Award for her lifetime of work. She has received NEA Visual Artist's Fellowships, a McKnight Interdisciplinary Fellowship, and residency fellowships in Ireland, Italy, London, and at the McDowell Colony in Peterborough, N.H.In 2005 she was a Senior Fulbright Scholar in Portugal.

Her work has been reviewed in The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the New Art Examiner, and is included in several books. Gilmor attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Iowa State University, and holds a Master of Fine Arts and Master of Arts from the UI. She is professor emerita at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids.
