What could you do with less pain? September is Pain Awareness Month and University of Iowa Health Care is offering a free, public seminar on pain management from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, in the Melrose Conference Room at UI Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Participants will be able to attend up to three of the following informal presentations offered by UI health care providers:

  • What is a Pain Doctor and What Does He or She Do?, Foad Elahi, physician
  • Managing Pain with Medication, Lee Kral, pharmacist
  • Managing Pain with Music Therapy, Kim Hawkins, music therapist
  • Coping with Chronic Pain, Valerie Keffala, pain psychologist
  • Maintaining Your Daily Life with Chronic Pain, Nicholas Copper, physical therapist

No registration is required. The event also includes refreshments, drawings for prizes, and information on managing pain. Parking for the event is available in Ramp 4 at UI Hospitals and Clinics; parking rates apply.
