More than 500 undergraduate students at the University of Iowa were named to the president’s list for the 2019 fall semester.

More than 6,100 undergraduate students at the UI were named to the dean’s list for the 2019 fall semester, while some 1,600 students received degrees at the close of the semester.
The president’s list was established in the fall of 1983 to recognize academic excellence. In order to be included on the list, a student must have a minimum 4.0 grade-point average (4.0 is an A) in all academic subjects for the preceding two semesters, with a total of at least 12 semester hours of graded credit per semester during that period. Courses offered on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory (S/U) or pass/fail (P/F) basis do not count toward graded credit for inclusion on the president’s list.

All UI students are assigned a personal Merit page during their first semester on campus. The UI uses Merit to recognize and promote outstanding student achievement, extracurricular activities, and graduation. Students have the ability to customize their Merit page with pictures; downloadable documents; and details about internships, externships, volunteer activities, leadership positions, study abroad experiences, and employment.
Students also have the option to share achievements added to their Merit page on their personal social media channels, such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Achievements posted to Merit pages by the UI are automatically shared with newspapers that serve the student’s hometown and with the counseling office of the high school from which the student graduated.
