The search committee to name a new University of Iowa vice president for medical affairs and dean of the UI Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine has hired a search firm.

Isaacson, Miller, Inc. will visit campus March 13–14 to meet with UI Carver College of Medicine faculty and leadership as well as with the search committee and UI leadership. These meetings will help the firm understand the job and preferred qualities so that the firm can answer questions from potential candidates.

“After reviewing several possible firms, we chose Isaacson, Miller for its experience with health care organizations,” says Carroll Reasoner, search committee co-chair, UI general counsel, and vice president for legal affairs. “Isaacson, Miller is also already familiar with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, having worked with us in a search for the new chair and DEO of the Department of Internal Medicine.”

Headquartered in Boston, with offices in San Francisco and Washington, D.C., Isaacson, Miller works primarily with nonprofit organizations.

Jean Robillard announced in September that he would be stepping down from his leadership role overseeing UI Health Care, which is comprised of the UI Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and University of Iowa Physicians.

Search committee co-chairs Reasoner and Bruce Gantz, head of the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, were announced in October and the 17 committee members were announced in November.

Robillard will continue to serve as vice president and dean until a new leader is named.
