Frederick Domann, professor in the UI Carver College of Medicine, received a Distinguished Scientist Award from the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine (SEBM) at the organization's annual meeting April 2–6 in San Diego.

Domann is the director of the Molecular & Cellular Biology Graduate Program, co-director of the Radiation and Antioxidant Enzyme Core Service, co-director of the Free Radical Cancer Biology Program, and professor of radiation oncology and pathology–surgery. He earned a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and carried out postdoctoral research at the Arizona Cancer Center. He joined the faculty at the University of Iowa in 1993 and has become an internationally recognized expert in free radical biology and cancer.

Founded in 1903, the Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine (SEBM) is a not-for-profit scientific society formed to promote investigation in the biomedical sciences by encouraging and facilitating interchange of scientific information among disciplines.
