Dr. Patrick Schlievert, chair and department executive officer of the Department of Microbiology, has been selected to receive the 2016 ASM Graduate Microbiology Teaching Award.

This award from ASM (the American Society for Microbiology) honors exemplary teaching and recognizes an individual for distinguished teaching of microbiology and mentoring of students at the graduate and postgraduate levels (e.g., graduate school, medical school, or other health professional schools) and for encouraging students to subsequent achievement.

Schlievert will be presented with the award at ASM Microbe 2016, to be held in Boston, Massachusetts, in June 2016.
