Renita Schmidt, of the Teaching and Learning Department, and Vilia Tarvydas, of the Rehabilitation and Counselor Education Department, received College Teaching Awards from the College of Education for the 2014-2015 academic year.

In support of Schmidt, one student said in a nomination letter, “Professor Schmidt is the one professor I can walk by her office in the hallway, knowing the door will be open, and I can stop in just to say hello. Over the years, those quick drop-in appointments have become longer and more personal. If I was having a bad day, frustrated with a course, or needed extra help on assignment, I knew Professor Schmidt would have an answer.”

In support of Tarvydas, one student said in a nomination letter, “In the Marine Corp, we call assets that significantly amplify the effectiveness of a unit ‘force multipliers,’ Dr. Tarvydas is without a doubt a force multiplier within the classroom, the College of Education and field of counseling.”
