The University of Iowa recently named the recipients of the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award. The awards are given annually to a few of the many graduate teaching assistants who spark learning and creativity in the classroom.
Shelly Campo, chair of the Council on Teaching, says, “There is no question that many of our graduate students are deeply committed to teaching and student success. They have been highly effective and innovative in the classroom. This was an exceptional pool of nominees.”
The awardees are teaching assistants who taught for at least one semester during the spring, summer, or fall of 2014. Nominations for the awards were sought from students, faculty, colleagues, departmental officers, and deans. The prize carries an award of $1.000.
Most recipients teach in their major area of study. Exceptions are noted.
