Weather permitting, University of Iowa Landscape Services crews intend to conduct a controlled burn on the Mormon Handcart Park property north of the Recreational Services soccer fields on Friday, April 17, beginning at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Burning is a preferred prairie management practice because unwanted vegetation is removed, and the prairie responds with renewed vigor. UI Landscape Services conducts controlled burns each year at various prairie sites around campus.
