The University of Iowa College of Education recently celebrated a major fundraising milestone, reaching its goal of raising $30 million. The fundraising campaign, part of the university-wide campaign "For Iowa. Forever More," started in 2008 and will end in December 2016.
UI President Sally Mason says, “Achieving this major milestone through the help of our friends and alumni allows our College of Education to provide the advanced training of our Teacher Leader Center, the world-renowned Iowa Testing Programs that serve more than five million students, and the internationally recognized Belin-Blank Center, as well as the many other programs that are found only at the University of Iowa. Congratulations to our colleagues, whose innovation and leadership are transforming the field of education on every level.”
The campaign funds a number of priorities within the college, including scholarship support for undergraduate and graduate students; faculty support including chairs, professorships, fellowships, and lectures; interdisciplinary research; 21st-century learning environments; the Belin-Blank Center for Gifted Education and Talent Development; and the UI REACH Program for young adults with cognitive and learning disabilities.
"While we celebrate this milestone, we are excited to begin a new goal of raising another $5 million over the next two years," says Nicholas Colangelo, dean of the College of Education. "Join us as we continue to not only reach our goals, but exceed them."
