It was another record-breaking year for the University of Iowa Dance Marathon, raising $2,001,856.21 "For The Kids"—nearly $300,000 more than last year.

More than 2,500 people packed the Iowa Memorial Union Main Ballroom Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6 and 7, for the “Big Event,” which provides emotional and financial support for pediatric cancer patients. Over the past 21 years, Dance Marathon has raised $16,541,049.65 for patients treated at UI Children's Hospital.

"We have exceptional students who do amazing things at the University of Iowa,” says UI Dean of Students David Grady. "We should all be incredibly proud of everyone who participated in Dance Marathon. I know I am."

Dance Marathon is the UI’s largest student-run organization and is a year-round commitment with more than 300 students filling executive and committee roles.
