University of Iowa student Andrew Mogni sustained serious injuries after a fall in Rome and is currently receiving medical care.

Mogni’s fall in the early hours of January 14 is thought to be an accident, but police are investigating. The 20-year-old from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, recently arrived for a semester program at John Cabot University in Trastevere. He is a third-year finance major at the UI Henry B. Tippie College of Business.

The university’s thoughts are with Mogni and his family during this difficult time. Mogni’s parents are in Rome, as is UI Assistant Provost for International Programs Doug Lee to offer support and any assistance needed.

Counseling services are available to students both in Rome and at the UI. Assistant Provost Lee will also be meeting with UI students in the John Cabot University Program over the next several days.
