The University of Iowa’s Hancher will present singer-songwriter and Iowa native Susan Werner in two Club Hancher performances on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 7 and 9:30 pm at The Mill in downtown Iowa City. Werner will perform music from her album Hayseed, a collection of serious and sardonic songs about rural life, food production, and the divide between the city and the country.

Hancher is presenting Werner’s concert in conjunction with the University of Iowa’s Food for Thought project. Werner will also participate in Hancher’s Leave Your Mark ceremony on Oct. 8.

Werner’s concerts are supported by the Hancher Partners and gifts to the Hancher Circle through the University of Iowa Foundation.

Limited tickets remain for the 7 p.m. performance, with greater availability for the 9:30 show. Tickets, which are $20 for nonstudents and senior citizens and $10 for college students and youth, are available from the Hancher Box Office.

Located on the first floor of the south end of the Old Capitol Town Center near the parking ramp, the Hancher Box Office is open for phone (319-335-1160 or 800-HANCHER) or walk-up business from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays.
