Bedford native's prize-winning essay earns a year of free tuition at UI

A talented high schooler from Bedford, Iowa has earned a year of free tuition at the University of Iowa thanks to a partnership between the University of Iowa and the Iowa City UNESCO City of Literature.

In this video Palen Stream, a junior at Bedford Community High School in southwest Iowa, discusses the inspiration for her essay that earned her a year of free tuition to the UI.

UI President Sally Mason, City of Literature Executive Director John Kenyon, and Cedar Rapids high school English teacher Adam Witte also share about the purpose and impact of the Paul Engle Day '"Glory of the Senses" essay contest.
