Army ROTC Game Ball Run ends at Beat State Pep Rally

Before the Cy-Hawk football series kicked off Saturday afternoon, the University of Iowa Army ROTC cadets carried the game ball into the Beat State Week Pep Rally.

UI cadets started Friday, Sept. 12, by heading to Tama to receive the game ball from Iowa State Army ROTC cadets. It was the 27th time the two groups participated in the exchange as part of the Army ROTC Game Ball Run. Then, UI cadets hit the road and ran through Tama, Belle Plaine, Marengo, and Williamsburg. Their journey ended by running the ball into the Beat State Pep Rally, welcomed by students, local veterans and fans.

The rally featured members of the 2004 Iowa football Big Ten Championship team,Herky, the Iowa Spirit Squads, Hawkeye Marching Band, and ESPNU Road Trip.

Hawkeye Caucus, the UI Alumni Association, S.T.A.T (Students Today Alumni Tomorrow), UI Athletics, and the Hawks Nest sponsored the rally, now in its second year. The UI-ISU football game kicks off at 2:30 p.m. on ESPN.
