Regents also appoint Mark Braun TIER project manager
Monday, August 25, 2014

Following is an update on Rising to the Next TIER, the transformation and efficiency study of Iowa’s public universities commissioned by the Iowa Board of Regents.

Check the University of Iowa’s TIER website for weekly updates, and submit recommendations for the study online.

Responding to feedback from university stakeholders, the Iowa Board of Regents agreed to slow the implementation of some of the TIER administrative business cases. This is a positive step to allow more time for review and feedback from faculty and staff. This has resulted in Deloitte needing to retain a new firm to review the academic programs.

This will mean an adjustment in the timeline for faculty engagement this fall. The Board of Regents remains committed to a thoughtful and deliberate process. As a subcontractor for Deloitte, the work performed by KH Consulting will be available to the new firm retained by Deloitte.

The Iowa Board of Regents also has appointed Mark Braun to serve as the transformation project manager for the TIER study, effective Aug. 25, 2014. Braun is currently the chief of staff and vice president for External Relations for the University of Iowa and is taking a leave of absence from that position to fill this new role. Braun served as the University of Iowa’s campus representative during TIER and is therefore ideally suited to manage implementation of the project on behalf of the Board.
