University of Iowa leaders announced today that they will begin removing the temporary flood protection wall, referred to as HESCO barriers, from the west side of Mayflower Residence Hall along Dubuque Street in Iowa City on Saturday, July 19.

The removal of the barriers is scheduled for completion during the week of July 20. University of Iowa Housing and Dining staff report Mayflower Residence Hall will be ready for students to begin moving into the building as scheduled in mid-August.

The university will continue to maintain and monitor other flood protection measures.
