Discusses flood recovery, student scholarships, research

University of Iowa President Sally Mason met with reporters Thursday morning in the first of a series of media availabilities planned throughout the academic year.

During the 30-minute session, Mason provided updates on recent campus flood protection efforts, the Summer Hawk Tuition Grant program that allows students to take classes for free, progress on the Six Point Plan to Combat Sexual Assault, and research developments in the fields of diabetes and blindness prevention. She also responded to questions about the Board of Regents new funding model, the Deloitte efficiency study, and the UI's plans for growth.
