With flood prevention measures in place, University of Iowa officials said Friday the plan now is to watch the weather and be ready to respond if the situation changes dramatically.

As a safety precaution, people are strongly encouraged to avoid construction areas, flood barriers, and walkways near the Iowa River because of the unpredictability of the rising water. Tampering with flood barriers is prohibited, constitutes trespassing and may compromise their effectiveness.
