Following is an update on Rising to the Next TIER, the transformation and efficiency study of Iowa’s public universities commissioned by the Iowa Board of Regents.

Check the University of Iowa’s TIER website for updates.

The Deloitte team concluded the Phase 1 TIER review in June with Town Hall meetings at each of Iowa’s public universities. In these meetings, the team shared Phase 1 key observations across eight main areas of focus and described 17 specific possibilities with the greatest potential for efficiency savings.

These areas were identified by Deloitte for additional analysis and the development of business cases (cost-benefit analyses) in Phase 2 of the project, which is currently under way and will continue into the fall. The full Phase 1 update summarized in the Town Hall meetings, and videos of each Town Hall session, are available on the Iowa Board of Regents' website at www.regents.iowa.gov.

As Phase 2 of the project continues, Deloitte will return to each of the three campuses during July.

Visits will include the University of Northern Iowa the week of July 14, Iowa State University the week of July 21, and the University of Iowa the week of July 28. During these visits, the Deloitte team will meet with key stakeholders as business cases are developed.

The board and the Deloitte team thank all stakeholders who are providing input into the TIER review through Town Hall meetings, TIER websites, and campus meetings with Deloitte.

“We appreciate the great feedback from individuals on the campuses and the public through the many questions and comments they are sharing with us,” said Regent Larry McKibben. “This information is invaluable to all of us as we continue to learn from everyone’s input.”
