The Rape Victim Advocacy Program (RVAP) at the University of Iowa is currently recruiting volunteer advocates to staff the crisis line and support survivors at the hospital or with law enforcement.

The 32-hour volunteer training program will begin Monday, June 2, to prepare area volunteers to provide assistance to victims/survivors of sexual assault.

Training covers topics surrounding sexual assault, teaches counseling skills, and includes role-plays designed to replicate typical calls received from victim/survivors. Volunteer advocates take calls from home, and scheduling is flexible.

The deadline to apply is Monday, May 26.
