Four University of Iowa students have won 2014 NSF Graduate Research Fellowships. They are:

Jeffrey Michael Moore of Muscatine, Iowa, a CLAS student, intends to pursue graduate study at the UI.

Sarah Bannon of Chicago, Ill., a CLAS psychology student, will pursue a PhD at Stony Brook University.

Lourdes Marielle Delgado Reyes of San Juan, Puerto Rico, a graduate student, intends to pursue graduate study at the UI.

Caitlin Cosme, Andrew Knight, Kelsey Spalding, and Timothy Weng received honorable mention.

The NSF award provides three years of financial support within a five-year fellowship period ($32,000 annual stipend and $12,000 cost-of-education allowance to the graduate institution) for graduate study in a field within NSF's mission that leads to a research-based master's or doctoral degree. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents, and are selected through the NSF merit review process.

A team consisting of Tippie School of Management students Jason Haase, Jake Johnson, Karen Rubel, and Adam Walter finished in third place in the Aspen Institute’s Business & Society International MBA Case Competition.

More than 1,000 students from 25 schools participated in the competition, which offered an opportunity for students to communicate that social, environmental and ethical issues are not at the periphery of business, but are central to business growth in the 21st century.
