Adolescents age 13 to 16 who have a first degree relative (biological parent or full sibling) with schizophrenia or a similar disorder are invited to participate in a University of Iowa research study examining the maturation of brain connectivity in adolescents.

The study will use brain imaging and behavioral testing to investigate the genetic and environmental factors that are involved in the development of brain connections during adolescence.

Participation involves three visits to the UI Hospitals and Clinics and four follow-up phone calls over a three-year period. Visits will involve an MRI scan (a brain imaging scan that does not use radiation), a blood draw, cognitive testing, and personality questionnaires. A parent or guardian must provide permission for a subject to participate.

Compensation is available.
