The brass area of the University of Iowa School of Music will host a free performance by the Marine Band San Diego Brass Quintet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, in Riverside Recital Hall on the UI campus.

For more than 90 years, Marine Band San Diego has thrilled countless thousands throughout the country with its inspiring renditions of patriotic music, classical literature, Big Band, Top 40 favorites, and the marches of John Philip Sousa. The Brass Quintet is one of the band’s various ensembles; it has an extensive repertoire, including standard classical literature, Dixieland favorites, and pop hits from the ’80s.

The members of the quartet are Sgt. LeAnn R. Splitter (trumpet/Brass Quintet leader), Cpl. Derrek J. Eldredge (trumpet), Cpl. Cristian V. Ortiz (trombone), Lance Cpl. Jacob Johnson (tuba), and Lance Cpl. Sarah A. Meyerpeter (French horn).

The School of Music is part of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
