For many of today's University of Iowa students, there's always been a World Wide Web, and the UI has always been there.

For lots of faculty, staff, alumni, and others of a certain age, however, a web-less world is a not-so-distant memory. The first UI home page debuted in 1994, staking the university's claim among text-only pages built with basic HTML.

This week, the university launches a new home page that's a far cry from its first, and from many of the pages that have come in between. Click the thumbnails below to browse images of home pages past (or find navigable versions via the Internet Archive Wayback Machine).
