Legendary performer has twice sold out events at Hancher Auditorium

The University of Iowa’s Hancher will present Lily Tomlin, one of America's foremost comediennes, on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 pm at the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort Event Center.

Tomlin continues to venture across an ever-widening range of media, starring in television, theater, motion pictures, animation, and video. Throughout her extraordinary entertainment career, she has received numerous awards, including six Emmys; a Tony for her one-woman Broadway show, Appearing Nitely; a second Tony as Best Actress, Drama Desk Award, and Outer Critics’ Circle Award for her one-woman performance in Jane Wagner’s The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe; a CableAce Award for Executive Producing the film adaptation of The Search; a Grammy for her comedy album This is a Recording, as well as nominations for her subsequent albums Modern Scream, And That's the Truth, and On Stage; and two Peabody Awards, the first for the ABC television special Edith Ann’s Christmas: Just Say Noël, and the second for narrating and executive producing the HBO film The Celluloid Closet.

Tomlin has starred in numerous films including 9 to 5 and All of Me. Her many television credits include her star-making appearances on Laugh-In, as well as roles on Murphy Brown and The West Wing.

Tomlin performed for sellout crowds at Hancher Auditorium in 1976 and 2005.

Lily Tomlin’s performance is supported by the Hancher Partners and gifts to the Hancher Circle through the UI Foundation.

Tickets for Lily Tomlin are $45 and $40 for nonstudents; $40.50 and $10 for college students; and $22.50 and $10 for youth from the Hancher Box Office.

The Hancher Box Office, located on the first floor of the south end of the Old Capitol Town Center near the parking ramp, is open for phone (319-335-1160 or 800-HANCHER) or walk-up business from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Tickets may be ordered online at the Hancher website. Any remaining tickets will be available for sale one hour before show time at the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort Event Center.
