Fred Cook, CEO of public relations firm GolinHarris International, will speak Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in 1505 Seamans Center on the University of Iowa campus. The event is free and open to public.

Cook will promote his new book, Improvise: Unconventional Advice from an Unlikely CEO and speak about his work experiences. Refreshments and informal networking will follow the presentation.

"Fred Cook is a huge name at an extremely influential company in the PR industry. So many people aspire to achieve as much as he has in his career,” says UI Public Relations Student Society of America Chapter President Alyssa Schaefer. “It's an honor to have the opportunity hear some advice straight from the source.”

GolinHarris International is owned by Interpublic Group and serves well-known global businesses, including McDonalds, Wal-Mart, Dove, Toyota, and Panasonic. In 2013, the company was named “Large Firm of the Year” and a “Top Place to Work in PR” by PR News.
