The performing arts component of University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Project Art will present a chamber music performance by internationally renowned artists at noon Monday, Oct. 7, in the atrium of the John Colloton Pavilion at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. The performance is free and open to the public.

Artists performing are Michael Brown (piano), whom the New York Times declared “a young piano visionary,” praising him for “a magnificent performance” and a “powerful technique and a vivid imagination”; Arnaud Sussmann (violin), the winner of a 2009 Avery Fisher Career Grant; Cindy Wu (viola), who enjoys a versatile international career as an orchestral soloist, a recitalist, and a chamber musician; Nicholas Canellakis (cello), currently an artist of the esteemed Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center; and Mark Bernat (double bass), internationally recognized soloist and coordinator of the Project Art performing arts organization.

The program is as follows:

  • Impromptu in B-flat for solo piano, D. 935, No. 3 by Schubert
  • Piano Quartet in C Minor, Op. 60 by Brahms
  • Piano Quintet in A Major, Trout by Schubert

The performing arts component of Project Art was created to offer diversion and stimulation through music, dance, and theater. Project Art schedules numerous performances each year; many Project Art performances take place during the noon hour to attract staff and visitors during lunch breaks.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to attend this concert, call Project Art in advance at 319-384-8068.
