Cello professor's project brings music to unexpected places

We all find ways to kill time while in waiting rooms. Swiping the smart phone. Reading somewhat-recent magazines. Or, in the case of Anthony Arnone, associate professor of cello in the University of Iowa School of Music, why not play the cello? He recently did just that while waiting for his car to be serviced.

The positive reaction he received from others in the waiting room inspired Arnone to start a new project, which he calls "Bach to Work." He visited several public spaces in September and October, providing the beauty of art in unexpected places.

"I'm really hoping other musicians will be inspired to go out and just play a little bit for their community as they run their errands and remind everyone this is beautiful music," Arnone says.
