The University of Iowa campus will be full of activities next week when homecoming festivities begin on Sunday, Sept. 29.
“Countless Hawkeyes, One Spirit” is the theme for UI Homecoming 2013, as alumni will make the annual trip back to Iowa City to catch the parade, take in a concert, and cheer for the Hawkeyes inside Kinnick Stadium. Current UI students, faculty, and staff will have plenty of opportunities to take part in homecoming activities throughout the week.
Homecoming week officially begins on Sunday, Sept. 29, with the United Way 5K (race begins at Carver-Hawkeye Arena) and the UI Celebrating Cultural Diversity Festival (CCDF). Since 1990, the CCDF has given members of the University of Iowa and its surrounding communities an opportunity to learn through food, games, dance, music, literature, and more. This year’s event will be held outside at Hubbard Park from noon to 5 p.m.

Other events during the week include the annual blood drive, Hungry Hawkeyes Alumni Dinner, Ruckus at the Rec, Sports Night at the Roy G. Karro Athletics Hall of Fame, Iowa Shout, a concert on the Pentacrest with Third Eye Blind, and more.
