Harpsichordist Jory Vinikour, 2012 Grammy nominee in the field of classical music, will present a free concert in Iowa City at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, in Riverside Recital Hall on the University of Iowa campus.

Vinikour has received accolades for his performances throughout North America and Europe. A Chicago native, he has lived for many years in Paris, carrying on an active performance schedule throughout Europe, performing both as a soloist and with all of Europe's important early music ensembles, while making occasional trips to the United States for performances, teaching, and recording.

Vinikour's Grammy nomination was made for his recording of the complete harpsichord music of Jean-Philippe Rameau, released on the Sono Luminus label. A portion of his Iowa City performance will be devoted to music of this great French master of the high baroque.

Vinikour's Iowa City performance is co-sponsored by the Iowa City Early Keyboard Society and the UI School of Music.

The Iowa City Early Keyboard Society presents an annual concert series during the academic year, bringing early music specialists from around the world for local performances on historically appropriate period instruments such as the harpsichord, clavichord, fortepiano, and organ.

The School of Music is part of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to attend this concert, contact the School of Music in advance at 319-335-1603.
