This year’s theme centered on technology and art

ArtsFest, held Friday in the University of Iowa's Studio Arts Building, is a free, interactive art experience presented by graduate and undergraduate students in the UI School of Art and Art History that features artwork by the students, as well as demonstrations and hands–on opportunities in studio art and art history.

This year’s theme centered on technology and its impact on art. One exhibit at this year’s event showcases Leonar3Do software, technology that transforms the 2-D, flat dimension of desktop computers and other devices into a real 3-D work environment.

The UI is the only school in the country currently teaching the Leonar3Do course. The software is quite intuitive—a claim members of the public were able to confirm themselves at this year’s festival.

The School of Art and Art History is part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences . For a UI arts calendar and details about upcoming events visit the new Arts Iowa website .
